So what is www.bigaussieroadtrip.com all about? Well... hopefully, by the time we are done, it will be a comprehensive journal about a family of 5 who have travelled around Australia to see the sights and also do some volunteer work around the country! In Mid 2010 we started thinking about what it would take to fulfil a life-long dream... We wanted to bundle up our 3 kids, pack-up the house, jump in the car and hit the road - probably for about 12 months. It sounds so simple ... At the start of January 2013, after almost 15 months on the road; we finally completed Our Big Aussie Road Trip. We hope that you enjoyed following our adventures, trials and tribulations as much as we enjoyed having them!

Geraldton

On our way into Geraldton we stopped to have a look at the leaning trees and then headed into Geraldton to meet up with our friends Cath and Dean Guse and their girls at the Drummond Cove caravan park.  We shared meals and the kids played really well together.  We could see the water from our caravan, and we got to see a beautiful sunset over the water that night.

Dinner with the Guse's
We only had two nights in Geraldton so the next morning we headed into town to see the sights,  first stop was the HMAS Sydney II Memorial and then on to the museum.  Before meeting up with the Guse's at lunch time at the water park in town.

They all had a ball splashing around in the water
Once we had finished at the park we had a drive around Geraldton: out to the lighthouse and along the tourist drive before heading back to the van park to swim in the pool and have dinner with the Guse’s.

Monday morning we packed up the van and before heading north we had to go back into town to get the caravan inspected (as it is up for registration).  This all took longer than we had expected so we found a park to play at for a while.  We didn’t get on the road until lunch time.  But thankfully the caravan passed the inspection and we could keep going!
